What Is Metal Clay
Updated: Mar 9
Metal clay is a medium consisting of microscopic particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze, or copper mixed with an powdered organic binder and water for use in making jewelry, beads and small sculptures.
What's amazing about metal clay is that it can be manipulated in the same way as any modelling clay, but once fired, the binding agents are burn away and the metal particles sinter together forming a metal structure. By using metal clay, very fine detail can be achieved, including impressions that would require casting in any other method of metalwork.
AJL uses metal clay that is manufactured using recycled and reclaimed silver; the percentage of recycled silver within these products is 100%. No extra silver has been mined for our creations, conserving the land and water resources of the affected silver mining areas.
